FAQs

Who are you people?

Like countless others in Western North Carolina, we are inspired by the community effort to support our neighbors and local businesses as we navigate life post-Helene. Most of us have young families or demanding jobs that make it difficult to contribute during the beginning of the recovery phase and clean up. Now, we are looking to use our passion and baking skills for good to raise some serious dough for those most affected by Helene. As the initial shock wears off, and donations to the area start to dry up, we hope our pilot event is successful enough to carry on this initiative to host multiple events. Kitty Asa is the founder of Sweet Impact Initiative.

What does a ticket get me?

Each ticket buys you one platter to fill with cookies at the pick-up event. Each baker will bring their favorite, unique recipes to the table. You will walk away with a beautiful platter of cookies made with love for your holiday gatherings. 100% of ticket sales will go to the beneficiary of the event.

How do I become a Sweet Impact baker?

Fill out this form here and wait for a reply. For our first event, we are experimenting with 12 baker slots. When you commit to being a Sweet Impact baker, you commit to funding your baking efforts of 150 cookies, receiving communications from our team leading up to the event, and attending the event with a way to display your masterpieces. Please check the event date to ensure it fits your schedule before committing.
We can’t wait to bake and celebrate with you!

How do you choose who benefits from the event?

During this unprecedented disaster, there are endless worthy recipients of funds. We are choosing the long-haul resilience fund as our pilot beneficiary because we align with their mission to create long-term funding for the three critical groups in WNC - individual immediate needs, culture & arts, and small businesses. Interested in becoming a beneficiary or know a worthy cause worth raising dough for? Please email Bakeavl@gmail.com with your inquiry.
Let’s work together!

$50! That’s a lot of clams. Why such an expensive ticket?

Bakers commit to using their personal funds to produce enough cookies for 100 tickets. (That’s a lot of cookies!) 100% of your ticket price goes directly to the beneficiary, intending to raise as much as possible for each cause. Although we believe you will walk away more than satisfied with a beautiful platter of homemade cookies, this is a fundraising event at its core, and the ticket price reflects the needs of the mission.

Hi friends! I am Kitty Asa, a local cookie and baking enthusiast. I started this organization knowing that this city is full of makers. Makers of art, food, community, friendship and so much more. Asheville is abundant with dreamers and doers, and when we get knocked down, we raise each other up. That is why so many people flock to these mountains—to experience that sweet, genuine feeling of hope and humanity that lives here.

This initiative is more than a relief effort—it’s a way to ensure that the heartbeat of our community, its people, and their creative and entrepreneurial spirits, are supported for the long haul. Together, we can turn loss into strength and recovery into lasting resilience, while having a little treat.

When I turned on the baker bat signal, I found dozens more passionate community members, whisk in hand, ready and willing to bake with me. Join us!
